After
a few tribute CDs it was time to get back to some tunes that have always
been some of our favorites. These are tunes we sing amongst ourselves
while driving to & from gigs.
The tune that I thought would be the masterpiece of my career is "I
Have A Dream", a Solomon Burke song that I heard several years
ago. I'm so sorry that you'll never hear it the way I recorded it. I had
15 seconds of Dr. Martin Luther King's speech in the opening. But because
of red tape and politics the record company had to remove the speech.
Still I think it came out pretty good. And I hope you like it.
My second favorite is "She's A Lady". I've always
dug Tom Jones. In fact I thought he was Black when I first heard him.
Then there's Toubo's contribution, "There's A Train".
He used to sing it to me every day. Drove me nuts. But it grew on me.
And you don't hear groups doing that kind of background anymore. It's
a lost art.
